- Why did Shopify reject my CSV?
- Product CSV imports can fail because of file encoding or quoting, missing or incorrect headers, required values, dependent variant columns, or invalid field values. The exact reason depends on the file and Shopify store context.
- What does the Shopify CSV Import Checker check?
- 46 checks inspect one CSV for supported file, header, product, variant, price, inventory, image, and search-field problems. Another 15 checks compare a current Shopify export with a proposed import. Read the full methodology.
- Does my CSV leave my browser?
- No. Checking, comparison, automatic repair, and export run locally in your browser. The product has no catalog upload endpoint, and filenames or catalog values are not sent to analytics. Read how local processing protects catalog data.
- Does the checker change my CSV?
- Not while checking it. If deterministic repairs are available, you can choose to create a separate repaired download. The checker does not invent handles, titles, prices, SKUs, or other business values.
- Does passing mean Shopify will definitely accept my CSV?
- No. A result with no blocking findings means the implemented checks found no listed blocker. Shopify can still apply store settings, app behavior, or import rules that the file alone cannot reveal.
- Can I check an update to existing Shopify products?
- Yes. Use Preview Import Changes with a current Shopify product export and the CSV you plan to import. It preserves the difference between an omitted column and an included blank value, and it sends uncertain matches to manual review.
