Review a Shopify Payments journal draft for QBO Canada

A balanced CSV is only a draft. The reviewer must map existing accounts, confirm policy, inspect every line and source reference, then verify the result in the actual QBO company after import.

Map roles to existing accounts

Shopify Payout Close discovers the accounting roles present in the analysed month—such as sales, shipping, tax payable, returns, fees, clearing, transit, and bank. You enter the exact names of existing QBO accounts and their expected broad types. The tool checks shape and conflicting reuse; it does not inspect the chart of accounts or choose tax treatment.

Review the draft before export

The free preview exposes the complete journal-line draft, account role, selected account, debit, credit, description, and source context. Confirm the period, totals, names, tax roles, exception allocations, and prior-ledger declaration before unlocking the files.

  1. Confirm debits equal credits for every journal.
  2. Trace material lines back to their source rows and reviewed controls.
  3. Confirm account names match the target QBO company exactly.
  4. Resolve every blocking finding and document every accepted review item.

Treat import as a separate control

Intuit documents CSV journal import for QBO Canada, but documentation and local file validation do not prove that one company accepted one file. Import only in an authorized company, inspect the preview, correct rejected mappings without editing the evidence trail, and retain the importer result with the workpapers.

Reconcile after import

After an authorized import, inspect the created journal, the Shopify Payments clearing and transit accounts, sales/tax presentation, and bank reconciliation. Compare the QBO result to the package controls. Until that destination check passes, describe the file as a QBO Canada journal draft—not an imported or reconciled close.
